Why Your Horse Will Thank You for This Haygain HG-One+ Hay Steamer

Respiratory issues in horses are often traced back to one surprising culprit: dust and mould spores hiding in everyday hay. The Haygain HG-One+ Hay Steamer tackles that problem at the source, using high-temperature steam to purify hay before it ever reaches the feed net. If you’ve been putting off this upgrade, this very-good-condition unit lets you start protecting your horse’s airways without paying full price for new.

Questions Riders Ask Before Buying a Haygain HG-One+

Does Steaming Hay Actually Make a Difference?

Yes — and it’s the entire reason this Haygain HG-One+ Hay Steamer exists. Steaming at high temperature kills mould spores, bacteria, and allergens trapped in hay, which regular soaking cannot fully achieve. Horses prone to coughing, nasal discharge, or diagnosed respiratory sensitivities often show noticeable improvement once steamed hay becomes part of their daily routine.

Is “Very Good Condition” Reliable on a Used Steamer?

We understand you want reassurance before spending on secondhand equipment. This unit has been kept in very good condition, functioning as intended with no performance issues. If you’d like more photos or specific details before deciding, just reach out.

What Does the Descaling Sachet Do, and Do I Need More?

The included descaling sachet helps remove mineral buildup from the heating element, which keeps the steamer working efficiently over time. One sachet gets you started, but you’ll want to plan on picking up additional sachets for ongoing maintenance as you continue using the machine regularly.

It Says “Without a Safety Net” — What Should I Do About That?

This is worth understanding before you buy. The HG-One+ normally uses a safety net to hold hay in place during steaming. Since this unit doesn’t include one, you’ll need to source a compatible replacement net separately before your first use. We’re happy to point you toward compatible options if you’re unsure what to look for.

How Long Will This Steamer Keep Working Reliably?

With regular descaling and basic care, a well-maintained Haygain HG-One+ can continue performing reliably for years. Since this unit is already in very good condition, you’re starting from a strong baseline rather than inheriting someone else’s neglect.

🛒 Ready to Steam Healthier Hay?

At €550, this Haygain HG-One+ Hay Steamer gives you a proven respiratory-health tool at a fraction of the new price. Just remember to budget for a replacement safety net before first use.
